### NIGERIA AT HER 56TH INDEPENDENT CELEBRATION ###
"Happy Independence to my dear Country men and women. Today we mark another year of our Freedom to be a Country on our own. I thank God that this great Country called Nigeria is still and will remain a blessed Country. Almost everything about this Country is great; think of our weather, geographical set-up, our food, our culture, our moral standard and so on. To God be the glory for this our great Country. I pray that God will continue to bless this Country and release abundance of harvest unto us. No matter what the enemy and his cohorts are doing to pull down the Country, it will not work for them. God bless Nigeria".
The above caption is the independent good-will message by Rev Fr Emmanuel Obimma EbubeMuonso, to Nigerians for today's 56th Independent day celebration.
I join my voice with Fr Ebubemuonso, my mentor to wish all the Nigerian's men and women of good-will, happy 56th Independent Celebration.
With my three days fasting and prayers for divine guidance and directions unto Nigeria and unto myself as "I SPEAK ON THE NATURE OF POLITICS IN OUR COUNTRY NIGERIA AND IN ANAMBRA STATE".
To start this divine message i will like you to join me as i end this my three days prayers today, by praying and asking for God's forgiveness, mercy and love again unto our Country Nigeria with these words of God in 1John 1;9(If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness) and in 2Chronicle 7;14(If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray, seek my face and turn from their wicked ways; then i will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land) so that God lift and prosper our Country Nigeria again in Jesus name, amen.
The message goes thus------
The nature of Politics in Nigerian democracy as at 56th Independence has been in a total disarray, dismay and contradiction to the supposed ideal democracy. Chinua Achebe in his book-"The Trouble with Nigeria" emphatically concludes that -"The trouble with Nigeria is simply and squarely a failure of Leadership". This is so because the Electoral System and the Judicial System which is the bedrock of any good Political system, are constantly hijack by the selfish politicians, because these systems did not have true working autonomy status. This condition of constant hijacking of our Electoral and Judicial system have been possible because we are being lead by self-centered political Leaders, who will always make law that will protect their evil deed and preserve their immunity. The current condition of politics in Nigeria will only be positively improved, if true authentic autonomy backed-up by a law in the Constitutional provisions will be granted to our Electoral System and our Judicial System.
The bad Electoral and Judicial System as the bedrock of our Political System can be corrected and amended through this process, so as to avoid rigging and malpractices in our political election;-
First the issue of Autonomy and Power of Incumbency should be re-address.
This entails that the financial autonomy and independent of the -"INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION, INEC" and "NATIONAL JUDICIAL COMMISSION" should be re-address and re-establish so as to discharge their duty without fear or favour.
The Nigerian Constitution should stipulate and amend the process for the election or institution of the Chairman of the National Electoral Commission INEC and the Chairman of the National Judicial Commission, so that their appointments is not left in hands of the Executives or the Legislatures; rather the Independent Electoral Commission and the National Judicial Commission should be left with the powers of appointment of all the Electoral and Judicial officers subject to the approval of the National Assembly. The above step will make the President or the governors not to have any power over this Commissions, so as not to manipulate their activities. Through this current sanitized process any of this incumbent Executive or Legislature whose tenure has expired, who want to go back on second tenure to that position will vacate that Political office and office declared vacant at least six months before the election; this office will be headed within the time by an interim government headed by the Chief Justice of the Federation or Chief Judge of the State, before the election is properly conducted.
This above step will make the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission and National Judicial Commission to carry-out his or her obligatory function without prejudice or fear of being removed by these Political Leaders in those offices and will also sanitize our Political System and enthrone an ideal democratic system for the benefit all.
The Pressure groups, the Youths groups functioning as interest groups or movement, Civil Society Organisations etc should all be sincere to their aims of formation and help in fighting for the citizens right through Public/Political consultations and peaceful demonstrations.
