APGA Governoship Campaign Team Storms Anaocha LG

*Ndị Anambra....* _*Our election is in two weeks!*_

Looking at the political parties and their candidates, APGA and Soludo has no match! Not even an iota of comparison with any other contender in the race...

No doubt, we are like the Oliver Twist, we are not contented with what we've got and where we are... But looking into the history from the inception of the APGA Governments in Anambra State, and taking into cognizance, the history of all the major political parties in the race, we can better understand that while the PDP ruled and ruined the state, APC has done more physical and psychological damage. Only the APGA Party has been able to champion the repositioning of Anambra State and with the emergence of well schooled, well experienced, visionary and brilliant Charles Nwa Mgbafor as the *OUTSTANDING CANDIDATE*, breaking new grounds for positive transformation is the watchword.

Do not waste your votes.... Give it to APGA and *Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo (Dikeudo)* and go on to enjoy the best desirable society in Anambra State; where human development and businesses can thrive.

Some may come with *GODFATHERISM*, others may have no succession plan, Prof Charles Soludo will not operate in isolation neither will he be caged a godfather... *Senator Dr. Victor Umeh OFR (Ohamadike Ndigbo)*, *His Excellency Governor Willie Obiano (Akpokuedike)* and all the well established APGA formidable structures and track records are already existential enablers for a greater performance. Moreso, the consciousness of the fact that late *Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (Ezeigbo Gburugburu, Ikemba Nnewi)* had led the Party and expects so much of her for the well-being of ndị Anambra and ndị Igbo in general will continue blaze the trail of our development and prosperity to a consummation.

 *SI NYE YA SOLUDO!*
 *SOLUDO KNOWS THE WORK!!*

The Nigerian government has warned against planned protests to demand justice for victims of a shooting during peaceful demonstrations in Lagos last year demanding the dissolution of a notorious police unit long accused of abuses.

The youth-led rallies against police brutality brought Nigeria’s largest city to a standstill in October, in a campaign that swiftly widened to include demands about better governance. The #EndSARS protests, named after the police force, spread even after it disbanded and the government.

Activists have called on social media for new protests on Saturday after a judicial panel authorised the reopening of the city’s Lekki toll gate, where security forces shot at peaceful protesters on October 20.

Photos reaching GISTMANIA reveal heavily armed security officers at the proposed sight of the OccupyLekkiTollGate protest.

The policemen can be seen bearing numerous canisters of teargas sophisticated ammunition

One can stop wondering about all this show of force on peaceful protest, whereas the nation is being torn apart on a daily basis by killer herdsmen, boko haram insurgent to mention a few insecurity chjallenges confronting the nation

Anambra State Government Suspends Curfew for high-compliance, Urges Ndi Anambra To Continue Adhere To Covid-19 Guidelines

Anambra State Government Suspends Curfew, Urges Ndi Anambra To Continue To Adhere To Covid-19 Guidelines

By Uche Nworah (ABS News)

Anambra state government has suspended the 9pm to 6am curfew, one of the measures introduced to check the spread of Covid-19 in the state.

The Secretary to Anambra State government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu said that the state COVID-19 Task Force had reported an increase in the observance of COVID-19 preventive guidelines in the state, hence the decision to suspend the curfew.

“It has been observed that Ndi Anambra and residents have become conscious of the threat to life that COVID-19 poses. There is appreciable compliance to the Covid-19 preventive guidelines issued by the government. We are not relenting, as we shall continue with our various interventions, including public enlightenment, engagement with market leaders, churches, hospitals and caregivers, and other stakeholders with the aim of stopping the spread of the virus in our state”, Prof Chukwulobelu said.

Continuing, he said that, “Governor Willie Obiano has directed the suspension of the curfew with effect from 6am, Saturday, 13th February, 2021. However, it is important that our people continue to adhere to the guidelines earlier issued; (1) wearing a protective facemask when in public places and outdoors.
(2) maintaining social distancing at public gatherings (3) washing hands regularly with soap for at least 20 seconds each time (4) using hand sanitizers regularly (5) If you suspect that you are showing symptoms of Covid-19, or feel unwell, contact the nearest hospital immediately. Do not self-medicate”.

Concluding, Prof. Chukwulobelu reminded that, “Mobile courts have already been set up to try those who violate these guidelines”.

Biden Threatens Financial, Visa Sanctions against Nigeria Over Anti-gay Laws

Biden threatens financial, visa sanctions against Nigeria over anti-gay laws
Posted on 23 hours ago AuthorDeborah MondayComment(0)
The new US President Joe Biden has signlled his administration would slam Nigeria with financial sanctions and visa restrictions if the African country does not tolerate sexual minorities.

The threat was not only targeted at Africa’s largest economy. Other countries that ban gay relationships were to face similar blows.

FIRST REPORTS reports that homosexuality is illegal in Nigeria, under the  Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act, signed by then-President Goodluck Jonathan, in January 2014.

But Mr Biden in a new memo last week directed all US embassies to promote and protect the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons “everywhere”.

The 78-year-old US President said that all human beings should be treated with respect and dignity and should be able to live without fear no matter who they are or whom they love.

“Around the globe, including here at home [United States], brave lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex (LGBTQI+) activists are fighting for equal protection under the law, freedom from violence, and recognition of their fundamental human rights,” he said.

“The United States belongs at the forefront of this struggle — speaking out and standing strong for our most dearly held values.”

Mr Biden stressed that it shall be the policy of the US “to pursue an end to violence and discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or sex characteristics”.

“Through this memorandum, I am directing all agencies engaged abroad to ensure that United States diplomacy and foreign assistance promote and protect the human rights of LGBTQI+ persons”. (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex.)

The President stated that “when foreign governments move to restrict the rights of LGBTQI+ persons or fail to enforce legal protections in place, thereby contributing to a climate of intolerance, agencies engaged abroad shall consider appropriate responses, including using the full range of diplomatic and assistance tools and, as appropriate, financial sanctions, visa restrictions, and other actions”.

He also directed the following actions, consistent with applicable law:

“Agencies engaged abroad are directed to strengthen existing efforts to combat the criminalization by foreign governments of LGBTQI+ status or conduct and expand efforts to combat discrimination, homophobia, transphobia, and intolerance on the basis of LGBTQI+ status or conduct.  The Department of State shall, on an annual basis and as part of the annual report submitted to the Congress pursuant to sections 116(d) and 502B(b) of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 (22 U.S.C. 2151n(d) and 2304(b)), report on human rights abuses experienced by LGBTQI+ persons globally.  This reporting shall include anti-LGBTQI+ laws as well as violence and discrimination committed by both state and nonstate actors against LGBTQI+ persons.

“In order to improve protection for LGBTQI+ refugees and asylum seekers at all stages of displacement, the Departments of State and Homeland Security shall enhance their ongoing efforts to ensure that LGBTQI+ refugees and asylum seekers have equal access to protection and assistance, particularly in countries of first asylum.  In addition, the Departments of State, Justice, and Homeland Security shall ensure appropriate training is in place so that relevant Federal Government personnel and key partners can effectively identify and respond to the particular needs of LGBTQI+ refugees and asylum seekers, including by providing to them adequate assistance and ensuring that the Federal Government takes all appropriate steps, such as potential increased use of Embassy Priority-1 referrals, to identify and expedite resettlement of highly vulnerable persons with urgent protection needs.

“Agencies involved with foreign aid, assistance, and development programs shall expand their ongoing efforts to ensure regular Federal Government engagement with governments, citizens, civil society, and the private sector to promote respect for the human rights of LGBTQI+ persons and combat discrimination.  Agencies involved with foreign aid, assistance, and development programs should consider the impact of programs funded by the Federal Government on human rights, including the rights of LGBTQI+ persons, when making funding decisions, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law.”

Beaking: Suspected Yahoo Boys Protest in Osun over the incessant EFCC Arrest of some of their Colleagues

BREAKING: Suspected ’Yahoo Boys’ Protest In Osun Over Incessant EFCC Arrest(VIDEO)
News4naijaFeb 9, 2021Read original

Some suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as ‘Yahoo Boys’, on Tuesday protested their incessant arrest by the security agencies.

They blocked Osogbo/Ilesa expressway in the State.

They were said to have stormed the Ilesa West Local Government Secretariat, Ilesa and made bonfire on the road, therefore halting the free flow of traffic along the busy road.

The bonfire was made exactly at the entrance of the Ilesa Council office.

It was gathered that they were protesting against their recent arrest by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

They alleged that the EFCC officials recently stormed the hotel they lodged in and arrested some of their colleagues.

It was gathered that owing to the road blockage, motorists plying the expressway were said to have been stranded.

Some of the road users, who know the terrain, had made u-turn for other routes.

Below is a video commentary on the alleged protest;

Breaking News- WTO : Coast Clears for Okonjo- Iweala as South Korean withdraw

•WTO prospective DG, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala

South Korea’s candidate for the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Yoo Myung-Hee, has announced she will withdraw from the race.

It clears the path for Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala who the General Council announced late last year as the consensus candidate.

The World Trade Organization’s General Council Chair David Walker announced in last October Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala had garnered the most support among WTO members to become the next global trade chief but her appointment was vetoed by the United States.

Korea’s Trade Minister Yoo Myung-hee announced on Friday that she would withdraw her candidacy for the next World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General.

Korea, she said, will continue to work with responsibility for the restoration of the multilateral trading system.

NOI, as she is fondly called, will be the first female and first African to head the WTO if affirmed by its 164 membeers. Myunghee1’s withdrawal does not mean @NOIweala immediately becomes the WTO next Director-General.

That appointment is taken in a formal decision by the WTO’s 164 members.

Since the U.S. is the only WTO member blocking Okonjo-Iweala’s candidacy, it remains to be seen whether the Biden administration will reverse the Trump administration’s veto and support her.

If there is no opposition from any WTO members, the chairman of the WTO general council, David Walker, can announce the resumption of the WTO suspended October general council meeting to consider the appointment of a new Director-General. (The Nation)

Notherner Finally Admits that Maazi Nnamdi Kanu is the True Leader of the Igbo Nation(Biafra)

At Last! A Northern Finally Admitted That Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Is The True Leader Of The Igbo Nation "Biafra"
Vanguard NewsFeb 3, 2021

Just in, on the first of February 2021, Prof. Usman Yusuf admitted: It Is Clear Now, Nnamdi Kanu Is The True Leader Of Ndi- Igbo, Not Ohaneze Organisation.

A Nigerian Professor Usman Yusuf has disclosed that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is the true leader of the Igbo Nation " Biafra" and not the Ohaneze Ndi- Igbo organization.

Professor Usman Yusuf characterized Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as the true leader who is the Commander in Chief in southeastern Nigeria " Biafra" . Prof. Usman Yusuf noted " I have

seen several Igbo men alleging leadership, but Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is different from most of them" . " He is focused, strategic in planning and has commanded an enormous number of followers across Nigeria and also the globe whose loyalty is unquestionable, "

" Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from the United Kingdom UK gives an order to the youths and they are all following him, that is leadership, Prof. Usman Yusuf said.

Prof. Usman Yusuf further stated that " it' s a shame that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is the one calling the shot in the Southeast " Biafra" . " He blamed the other Igbo leaders for the squalor in the region and asked, " Where are the leaders, where are the Ohanaeze Ndi- Igbo leaders? He questioned.

Where are the elders who should call the youths to order when they trespass? " Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is the only true leader the youths can trust.

The government should listen to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu when he talks, It is clear now, Nnamdi Kanu is a true leader of Ndi- Igbo " Biafrans" , Not the Ohaneze Ndi- Igbo Organisation he asserted.

Soldier to die by Firing Squad for Killing Lieutenant

Soldier to die by firing squad for killing Lieutenant
SunnewsonlineJan 13, 2021Read original

Amilitary court martial, yesterday, said a soldier, Azunna Maduabuchi, must die by firing squad for killing his superior.
Maduabuchi was said to have shot Lieutenant Babakaka Ngorgi dead in June 2020, in Maiduguri, Bornu State, after an argument over welfare pass.

He was charged with murder. The same panel also tried and sentenced four other soldiers to prison over manslaughter.

Maduabuchi had in July 2020 reportedly opened fire on Lieutenant Babankaka Ngorgi, killing him instantly.

The trial that led to the conviction of the condemned did not reveal if the soldier had any personal grudges with the officer he killed.Maduabuchi, a private soldier, pleaded guilty but argued that his action was accidental.

But PREMIUM TIMES was informed by inside military sources that the condemned soldier had once gone on AWOL, which led to the stoppage of his salary for about six months.

The source said the soldier, who was serving at the 202-battalion in Bama, pleaded with the late Lieutenant Ngorgi, who was his Adjutant, to allow him travel to the state capital to sort out his salary issues, but his requests were repeatedly denied.

It was not certain if it was the issue that pitched the condemned soldier against the deceased officer.

How to retrieve my NIN Number?
Could it be that you have forgotten your NIN, or you don’t remember where you kept your NIN slip?

Not to worry, NIMC’s USSD service enables you to retrieve your NIN conveniently using your mobile phone.

To use this service, simply go through the following steps:

Step 1: Dial *346#

Step 2: From the options displayed, select “NIN Retrieval”, by typing in ‘1’.

Note: you must be using the same phone number you enrolled with for your NIN.
Also, using this service attracts a fee of NGN 20 (twenty naira), which will be deducted from your mobile number’s credit balance.

Meanwhile, The Federal Government has ordered all network providers to cancel the NGN20 retrieval charges for the retrieval of the National Identification Number (NIN) with immediate effect.

Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami gave the order in a statement issued on Friday, 18 December 2020. The minister says the government wants everyone to be able to use the service and not to be deterred because of the charge.

How to retrieve my NIN number online
At the moment, you cannot retrieve your NIN online as the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) website is offline. The only way you can retrieve your NIN s by using the shortcode *346#. The shortcode works only with the mobile number registered to the NIN. If you have lost the number, you can either do a welcome back for your SIM or visit the nearest NIMC office to renew your NIN card.

What if I don’t have a national identification number, how can I get a NIN? Don’t worry, we will explain the process to get a NIN number in the following sections.

What is NIMC?
National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) is the legal body established by the NIMC Act No. 23 of 2007 with the mandate to establish, own, operate, maintain and manage the National Identity Database in Nigeria, register persons covered by the Act, assign a Unique National Identification Number (NIN) and issue General Multi-Purpose Cards (GMPC) to those who are citizens of Nigeria as well as others legally residing within the country.

What is the National Identification Number (NIN)?
NIN is a set of digits assigned to an individual, by The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), upon successful enrolment.

Enrolment consists of the recording of an individual’s demographic data and capture of the ten (10) fingerprints, head-to-shoulder facial picture and digital signature.

Your National Identification Number (NIN) is used to tie together all records about you – demographic data, fingerprints, head-to-shoulder facial picture, other biometric data and a digital signature – in the National Identity Database making it relatively easy to confirm and verify your identity when you engage in travels and transactions.

This crucial feature of the NIN makes it key for all citizens (home and abroad) as well as legal residents of Nigeria to endeavour to obtain their unique NINs as soon as they can.

What is the importance of NIN?
The National Identification Number (NIN) is important because:

1. It is used for retrieving your captured information from the National Identity Database

2. Your matching information associated with your NIN can be used to verify that you are really who you say you are.

3. It helps provide accurate records about actual living/dead persons in every region of the country

4. It helps keep track of actual transactions as well as the movement of people within and out of the country

5. It helps confirm which individuals are in actual need of particular Government services, e.g. age and retirement confirmation for pensioners.

How to register for NIN?
Pre-enrollment of NIN
The pre-enrollment process of NIN is quite simple and straightforward as it can be called the “do it yourself whenever and wherever you are” process of enrollment. However, the NIMC website is down currently and so you will not be able to complete this part online. The downside is that you will need to complete the pre-enrollment form offline rather than online.

Assuming the NIMC (www.nimc.gov.ng) website is up, for the enrollment process, visit the pre-enrolment portal (https://penrol.nimc.gov.ng/), and complete your data in block letters. Then, print out a summary sheet that has a 2D Barcode

Note: Online Pre-Enrolment is an initial step in the enrolment process. The enrolment is only completed after the applicant gets his or her biometric data (fingerprints, headshot photograph and signature) captured and processed by an Enrolment Officer at any NIMC Enrolment Centre.

Since the online portal is not functional at the moment, you can register in any NIMC Enrolment Centre (ERC) close to you.

You will need a valid id card such as a driver’s licence international passport. If you don’t have any of these, you will need a letter of identification from your local government.

How can I confirm my National Identification Number?
After enrolling for your NIN, a transaction slip is issued. You will then be informed when you can come for the collection of your NIN.

A second slip called the National Identification Number (NIN) Slip is issued when you collect your NIN.

The NIN Slip has your 11 Digit Number at the top left corner, second row.

How many times can I enrol for a National Identification Number?
Enrollment for the NIN is once in a lifetime. After you have enrolled for your National Identification Number, and it is presented to you, the Automated Biometric Information System (ABIS) will store all your information supplied.

Any other attempt to enrol again by the same person will be detected and this a punishable offence by law.

Once a NIN is assigned to an individual, it can never be reassigned, given or used by another person. This makes the number unique to individuals.
